Jalapeño Sauce “That Green Sauce”

Ingredients:

  • 6 Jalapeños
  • 1/2 Onion
  • 4 Cloves of Garlic (or 2 teaspoons minced garlic)
  • 3 Sprigs of Cilantro
  • 2 Teaspoons Salt
  • 1/4 Cup Avocado Oil
  • Juice from 1 Lime
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Pepper

Directions:

  1. For a Mild Sauce:
    • Remove the stems from the jalapeños. Cut them in half and remove the seeds and white flesh.
    • Chop the onion into smaller pieces.
    • Place the jalapeños and onion in a 2-quart saucepan.
    • Add enough water to cover all the ingredients.
    • Bring the water to a boil and let it simmer for 10 minutes, or until the jalapeños are soft but not mushy.
    • While boiling, combine the rest of the ingredients in a separate container and stir together.
    • Strain the water from the jalapeños and onion.
  2. For a Hot Sauce:
    • Remove the stems from the jalapeños.
    • Add the jalapeños and onion to the container with the rest of the ingredients.
    • Use an immersion blender to blend all the ingredients until smooth.
